The AIUM is dedicated to promoting the safe and effective use of ultrasound. Surprisingly, only a small proportion of offices that practice ultrasound are actually accredited by the AIUM. The accreditation process is very detailed and not simple to complete. During the application process, the AIUM reviews virtually all aspects of the practice, including personnel and their training, physical facilities, documentation, storage and record keeping practices, policies and procedures, quality assurance methods, and application of proper ultrasound technique. Accreditation means that our practice has met nationally accepted standards and has demonstrated consistent excellence in patient care.
